Goodman Waves Swim Team
A community partnership between the Shelley Glover Sports Education Foundation, The Irwin A. and Robert D. Goodman Foundation and Madison Parks.
SGF is proud to partner with the Madison Parks Goodman Swimming Pool and the Irwin A and Robert D Goodman Foundation to provide an affordable, competitive swim team opportunity for the Madison community, the Goodman Waves. Through the generosity of the Goodman Foundation, SGF and Madison Parks established the Waves in 2011 as a part of the Madison All City Swim league. In its first season, more than 60 swimmers participated. As a testament to the program’s success, the size of the team nearly doubled in its second season to more than 120 swimmers.
The Goodman Pool Waves is open to children ages 6 to 18. The Waves is not a lesson program; swimmers must be able to swim one length of the pool to join. Coaches work daily with children to help them learn to swim to the best of their abilities and to help them experience the joy, friendship, and physical fitness benefits that come with participating on a swim team.
Support from the Irwin A. and Robert D. Goodman Foundation and SGF keep the swimmer registration fee affordable for most families and provide scholarships for the families that need them, ensuring all kids have the opportunity to swim. Please enquire with the Goodman Pool about full and partial scholarships for the Waves Swim Team.
